I wrote this essay pre-pandemic, during a stretch of time when retailers were not waiting until “Friday” to host Black Friday sales but rather opening stores up on Thanksgiving Day itself. As a former retail worker, I had mixed feelings about shopping on Turkey Day, which I explore in this essay.
